Top 12 Finalists

Thank you to all the artists who submitted! We received over 35 submissions from local artists, all very talented. Our L5P Judges have met several times to review each submission and have chosen the top 12 artists over the past very stressful and heartbreaking weeks. 

The Beatui5 committee of the L5P Alliance with our L5P Judges delayed the process for two weeks from the original date of June 4th. We chose to pause, like many of you, because we are deeply impacted by the acts of racial injustice and find ourselves pulled to give space, reach out and speak up right now for equality, justice and peace. 

We value the power of public art and recognize the needs of artists in this time of COVID-19. Art is a change agent and we support you. 

The community will VOTE on the top 6 artists to transform traffic signal boxes in Little 5 Points on Thursday June 18, 2020 from midnight until 11:59pm on FB and IG.

Adjusted Timeline

  • May 18: Call for Artists Opens

  • May 29: Deadline to submit at midnight

  • May 30-June 2: L5P Judges choose top 2 designs in each theme

  • June 14: Artists notified. 

  • June 18: Community Chooses Top Design in Each Theme via Social Media Voting

  • June 19:  Winners Announced

  • June 22-25: 

    • Artist Orientation: See your box 1 on 1 with L5P Alliance. 

    • Completion of artwork to size of box due before orientation

    • 1st Payment to artists

  • June 26-29: Clean up, Prep, Prime at Night and Art Installations

    • Prep, Prime and Paint needs to be consecutive. 

    • Any clean box is a target for graffiti. 

    • Final payment to artists upon completion and proper documentation. 

  • July: Possible Opening Event: TBD
