Call for Artists

Calling all artists to submit artwork to the YOU ARE HERE! L5P Signal Box Project. Six selected artists will transform 6 graffiti covered traffic signal boxes into signature pieces of local art that tell the story of Little 5 Points. We want to create memorable entrance points to our historic neighborhood commercial district and cultural destination. 

Each signal box will have a theme that illustrates the unique personality of L5P with locations on Dekalb Avenue, Mansfield Avenue, McLendon Avenue, and Euclid Avenue. The themes are:

  1. Music

  2. Theater

  3. Independently Owned Businesses | locally owned and operated energy

  4. Restaurants & Bars | Food, drinks, nightlife

  5. History of Little 5 Points 

  6. Unique Funky Culture of Little 5 Points

Selected artists will be paid $600 each for the installation of their design. You are here! L5P Signal Box Project is funded by a $2400 City of Atlanta Neighborhood Arts Grant, and will raise $1600 from private donations from all those who love L5P here!   This project is managed by the Little 5 Points Alliance in partnership with the Inman Park Neighborhood Association. 

Selection process will include judges from L5P and the community.

  • May 16: Call for Artists Opens Submission Form

  • May 29: Deadline to submit at midnight

  • May 30-June 2: L5P Judges choose top 2 designs in each theme

  • June 3: Community Chooses Top Design in Each Theme via Social Media Voting

  • June 5:  Winners Announced

  • June 12: Artist Orientation: See your box 1 on 1 with L5P Alliance. 

    • Completion of artwork to size of box due before orientation.

    • 1st Payment to artists

  • June 13-31: Clean up, Prep, Prime at Night and Art Installations

    • Prep, Prime and Paint needs to be consecutive. 

    • Any clean box is a target for graffiti. 

    • Final payment to artists upon completion and proper documentation. 

  • July: Possible Opening Event: TBD
