Moreland Progress

While the public health crisis has been a challenge for our Little 5 Points business district, GDOT has been able to keep moving forward on construction on Moreland Avenue. We now have new ADA accessible sidewalks on the west side of Moreland from Dekalb Avenue to Mansfield. You'll also notice a few additional improvements along the corridor:

  • We now have a wider sidewalk outside of Corner Tavern, which has been a very narrow pinch point for some time.

  • GDOT did have to remove several dying trees, but the CID was able to work with Lord Aeck Sargent, who is working on our Little 5 Mobility Study, to do a replanting plan. We now have new planting wells along Moreland that will be filled with greenery when the construction is complete.

  • The section for the HAWK signal between the Post Office and the Junkman's Daughter/Aurora parking lot is beginning to take shape.

  • Notice that the middle driveway at Sevananda is now removed.
