GA Tech Studio
The L5P Alliance and our members, L5P Community Improvement District (L5PCID), Little 5 Points Business Association (L5PBA), Candler Park Neighborhood Organization (CPNO), Inman Park Neighborhood Association (IPNA) supported the Georgia Tech Design Studio of Masters level planning students to conduct a “Studio” for Little 5 Points. The Studio is made up of 6-8 graduate students drawing from the disciplines of city and regional planning, urban design, civil engineering, and architecture.
Working with the CID and the Alliance, the students are studying issues such as transportation elements, right-of-way design that includes relevant travel modes, property access, traffic control, travel speeds, and streetscape improvement measures. The Studio will create concepts that the Alliance, GDOT, and the city can pursue to highlight Moreland’s transformation from bleak, auto-dominated throughput to community-serving access. The study will propose measures supporting the CID’s commitment to lift the area’s quality of life, to draw in supportive investment, and to become more desirable for current and future citizens and businesses.
